ELIBABILITY Must be a faculty, or postdoc at a HBCU, MSI, HSI, TCU, AANAPISIs or Community college in the United States. Fellows are expected to honor a 1-year virtual engagement with GRADS-4C while they train and work towards producing an NIH proposal and at least 1 publication.

A&T Receives $5.8M to Lead Genomics Educational HubNorth Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University was granted $5.8 million by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to create a genomics educational hub that will provide new educational and research opportunities for undergraduate and master’s students who are historically underrepresented in biomedical sciences.

N.C. A&T Researchers to Examine Microbial Communities in New NSF Center N.C. A&T researchers will be part of an NSF Engineering Research Center led by Duke University to develop diagnostic tools and engineering approaches that promote building designs for preventing the colonization of harmful bacteria, fungi or viruses while encouraging beneficial microorganisms.

National Science Foundation Supports N.C. A&T’s Quantum Research with $5M GrantNorth Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University has been awarded a five-year, $5 million grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to support the ExpandQISE: Track 2: N.C. A&T QISE Research Workforce Development Programs.

N.C. A&T Receives $10M to Open Clean Energy Research CenterNorth Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University will open the Center for Electrochemical Dynamics and Reactions on Surfaces (CEDARS) funded by a four-year $10.35 million grant from the Department of Energy (DOE). The center will be led by Dhananjay Kumar, Ph.D., a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, College of Engineering (COE).

N.C. A&T’s Center of Excellence Recognizes Women Faculty in Manufacturing, Launches AcademyAccording to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, women made up approximately 29 percent of the manufacturing workforce in 2020. Data show this trend has been consistent over the last five decades, seeing a peak at 33 percent in 1990. The Center of Excellence in Product Design and Manufacturing (CEPDAM) at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University recently launched a new academy to recognize and further enhance support of women faculty and students in the field.

N.C. A&T Receives IBM Quantum Research Center Designation, Joins Broader HBCU Education InitiativeNorth Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University joins IBM’s newly established collaboration today with 13 historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) to equip students pursuing quantum computing careers. The IBM-HBCU Quantum Center is a multi-year investment, and A&T’s proven strengths in ground-breaking STEM research and academic rigor resulted in the university’s selection and designation as one of five HBCU leading quantum research centers in the partnership.
